The snow riding was so much fun yesterday, we decided to try some more today. Powderface / Prairie Link was calling us. It was a fun day but not without its challenges. It was several degrees warmer today and that made the snow pretty soft, which hopefully made the legs pretty hard after a lot of pedaling. In Michele's case the pedaling was even more challenging without a pedal ... her left pedal came off 3 minutes into our ride. But if she squeezed her leg towards the bike she could get it to stay in place. Improvise! After a while I wasn't even able to clip in ... ice on the cleats and in the pedals. But none of that stopped us.
We pushed on through the soft snow, past some hikers and snowshoers. We never made it up the double-wide track with the curved tree though. It was just too soft by the time we got there. So we turned things around and enjoyed the fun downhill back to the parking lot and then did some extra pedaling up the closed Hwy 66 to the first viewpoint before turning back down to the car on the other side of the snow gate.
Tired legs, tired Suzanne. :) Here's to a 2013 filled with lots more fun adventures outside! Happy New Year everyone!
